Book List For Kids

Vetted Book List for Kids

This extensive book list is filled with over 300 high quality, vetted books that I personally own and know are good books for young minds. I have put these books into what I believe are increasing difficulty levels to help parents know what to introduce to their kids, and when. These are the books that I consider to be of high enough quality to be counted for literature class, starting from the very earliest beginning readers.

The list ends with a page of suggested “fun reading” books for a variety of ages, and which includes many wonderful series for you to explore with your child. I’ve included extensive footnotes with a variety of information about each book, to assist you in your choices.

We start this list as soon as our children learn to read (in our family’s case, this means after using the Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons

All you need to do is go to the list, and you’ll know what your child is capable of reading, and that it is a safe, good book for their hearts and minds. What is considered a “good book”? It is a book that excites the imagination of a child, is well written for the difficulty level, and does not go against beliefs or values upheld in Scripture. It will have sinful characters of course, but those characters’ sins are not upheld as funny, good or right. Evil is portrayed as evil. Good is portrayed as good, and you won’t have to worry about subliminal gender messaging, sexual inuendoes, political messaging, or the like.
